Aviator Spotlight

Ike and Liz Enns

From a very early age, I met Ike and Liz at local fly-ins and airshows. That connection opened the door for me to begin coming to Riverside Airport at 10 years old, and shortly after took my first airplane ride in their P-51! From that moment, they could not get rid of me, and are now my adopted grandparents.

Ike and Liz came to Tulsa in the early 90’s as Canadian snowbirds, spending the summer months running fishing lodges in Canada, and the offseason in Tulsa. They first built a hangar at the Haskell Airport, where they kept the P-51 for about 2 years. Looking for a longer/wider runway (Haskell at that time was 27′ wide), they built a hangar at Tulsa Riverside Airport. Now, owning two hangars and a fleet of antiques and warbirds, they continue to share aviation with many throughout the Tulsa area. Both accomplished pilots, Ike has flown the P-51 for nearly 30 years. Liz also enjoys flying her DHC-1 Chipmunk and has about 30 hours flying the T-6.

When asked what brought them to Riverside Airport and keeps them in Tulsa, they attribute that to the tight knit aviation community and the connections built at RVS.
